Closed circuit TV (CCTV) cameras have been installed in order to monitor activities in the area surrounding Spinola Palace, commonly known as Spinola Gardens, the Malta Tourism Authority said.

This area, which lies in the centre of one of Malta's most important tourism zones, has been the focus of numerous acts of vandalism and other anti-social behaviour in recent months.

The system utilises a high quality speed dome and a digital recording system which is remotely monitored on a 24- hour basis from Securital's remote monitoring centre.
