Italy's Matteo Priamo of the CSF Group team won the sixth stage of the Giro d'Italia from Potenza to Peschici yesterday.

Priamo beat Spain's Alan Perez Lezaun by eight seconds after they pulled clear of an 11-rider breakaway group. Russia's Nikolai Trusov was third at 27 seconds.

Italy's Giovanni Visconti of the Quick Step team finished eighth at 40 seconds but took the race leader's jersey according to provisional race results.

Today's 180km seventh stage starts in Vasto on the Adriatic coast and ends with a climb to Pescocostanzo in the central Apennine mountains.
