Three Somalis injured in fight

Three Somali men were injured in what appears to have been a brawl at Hal Far late last night, the police said.

One of them was in danger of dying after suffering a serious chest wound with a pointed instrument but his condition improved after surgery, the police said.

The second Somali had slight head injuries and is receiving hospital treatment.

The third man, who had facial injuries, was taken to hospital but refused treatment.

Further investigations are under way.

Why on earth did the 3rd person REFUSE treatment ?? I sincerely hope that a photo of his facial injuries will not emerge in a year's time (or less) as 'evidence' of mistreatment at the open centres !

The construction industry is having a field day with the ready supply of cheap labour. Such huge numbers of men willing to work for next to nothing in harsh conditions will inevitably keep local construction personnel own wages low. As we all know the construction lobby’s power over the government is evident all around us, with our islands resembling more and more one big construction site every day. Perhaps the construction lobby’s influence over the government is the reason why the government s attitude is so lackluster when it comes to curbing illegal immigrant numbers.

I think it is fair to say, and I am not being racist, honestly, that this is definitely not helping the situation at casualty (a very hot topic within the Health Care system at the moment). It is also guzzling the money of the government, much needed to pay doctors and improve the system!
These people are only taking money from the government - giving nothing in return. With all due respect to them, cos everyone needs dignity but i dont think that our tiny island can afford them. It hardly affords its tax-payers.
