Pop music for philharmonic orchestra concert

The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra will be performing at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, in Valletta, on July 27 as part of the Pop Series of Concerts.

The programme will include music by some of the greatest pop artistes of all time such as Madonna, the Rolling Stones, Bryan Adams, Boney M and many others.

This year, the concert has been entrusted to Roderick Bugeja, the orchestra's principal trombone player, who also happens to be bandmaster of the Vittoria Band Club at Naxxar and the Duke of Connaught's Own Band in Birkirkara.

Guest artistes will include Sixth Simfoni, Malta's best hip hop and R'n'B music award winners and singer Gloriana Arpa.

Ms Arpa is no newcomer to the music scene. The daughter of Helen Micallef and niece of popular singer Renato, she has undoubtedly inherited a wonderful voice.

Sixth Simfoni (picture) lately recorded two tracks for their new album with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra.

Tickets starting from €12 can be bought from the MCC box office.

For further information one can call 7934 4355 or log on to the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra website at www.maltarochestra.com.
