A man has been charged with defiling three teenage girls who were on a school treasure hunt yesterday afternoon.

Noel Spiteri, 42, of Mtarfa pleaded not guilty to driving up to the students and speaking to them after he removed his trousers. He is also pleading not guilty to harassing the girls two of whom are 15 and one 16. Mr Spiteri, who is a nurse at Mater Dei Hospital, is arguing that this was a case of mistaken identity.

He was granted bail on condition he does not leave his home except for conditions laid down by the court. He was also bound by a personal guarantee of €5,000.
