A symbolic protest against animal cruelty is being held from City Gate to Blata l-Bajda, where Circo Fantasy is to be located, on December 10 at 6 p.m.

This was announced by the Circus Animal Rights Coalition, which consists of 20 animal rights organisations.

The coalition launched its campaign in which it is also calling on the authorities to refrain from allowing such circuses to perform in Malta.

Animals used in circuses were unwilling participants in a show that jeopardised their health and psychological well-being.

The coalition said 4,500 signatures were gathered so far in a petition against animals in show business.

It called on the public to support their campaign and to join the protest.
