The Ghaxaq turret, it-Turretta, has been passed on to the council in a ceremony presided over by Lands Parliamentary Secretary Jason Azzopardi this morning.

The devolution is the sixth since the beginning of the year.

Dr Azzopardi said historical heritage gave an identity to the locality it was in so it was important to care for it and integrate it in the everyday life of residents.

The building was being passed on to the council for an annual rent of €250.
