Hundreds of items owned by the movie legend John Wayne go under the hammer at an auction this week.
His family hope to rake in more than £1 million from the sale of costumes, scripts and awards.
The eye patch, cowboy hat and waistcoat the rugged star wore for his Oscar-winning role as Marshall Rooster Cogburn in 1969 western True Grit are among the 745 items up for grabs.
John Wayne, nicknamed The Duke, died from cancer in 1979 aged 92 after starring in more than 170 films in five decades – and he was recently voted America’s third most popular movie star behind Johnny Depp and Denzel Washington.
Youngest son Ethan Wayne, director of John Wayne Enterprises, said: “This is a sale for the fans. They were the people who were important to my father.” The auction will be held between today and tomorrow but bids will also be accepted online at http://JohnWayneAuction.com
