Twenty three people from Eritrea and Somalia under international protection have left Malta to start a new life in the US, Norway and Denmark.

Nineteen of the beneficiaries, including a family of four, will resettle in the US while a family of three will relocate to Norway. The US has welcomed 868 people since 2007. However, this was the first time that a person left Malta for Denmark, following the country’s pledge to relocate 10 people.

Denmark and Norway committed themselves to assist Malta during the ministerial pledging conference organised by the European Commission in May of last year.
