Ten Nigerians escaped from Hal Far detention camp last night, but four were recaptured this morning.

The break-out is believed to have taken place at about 2 a.m. when the migrants managed to saw through an iron bar across one of their windows.

Another two Nigerians escaped last Wednesday and are still on the run.

The Nigerians were transferred to Hal Far from Safi last week in readiness for their deportation after their request for protection status was turned down. Tension has been high since the migrants were interviewed by a consul.

A search is underway in the camp for the tools used in last night's break-out.
