The 54 Egyptian immigrants who landed in Malta last Saturday left Malta on a deportation flight back home at around 7.30 p.m. They were accompanied by airline security personnel.

The immigrants were sighted in Qbajjar (29) and Manikata (23).

Throughout Saturday, conflicting reports were received some saying that the migrants had landed here and others that they were trying to escape.

The migrants originally claimed they were from Palestine but they later admitted they were Egyptians.

Their documents were obtained in collaboration with the Egyptian Embassy.
