A 42-year-old Liberian national was charged in court today with having injured another man who was at the house of his former partner.
Maxwell Joe pleaded not guilty to storming into the Zabbar home of his former partner, with whom he has a child, biting the other man on an arm, damaging property and relapsing.
Magistrate Francesco Depasquale heard how the accused frequently ended up in trouble with police because of his relationship with his partner. She often asked him to return home but they then argued and she called the police.
Police Inspector Sylvana Briffa explained that the woman often withdrew her police report. She said that the accused had to learn to move on from the relationship or he would continue getting in trouble.
Bail was denied.
