French President Francois Hollande has endorsed Joseph Muscat, saying in a video message that he looked forward to Joseph Muscat joining the European Council (the EU heads of government) after March 9.

"I need him, Europe needs Malta, and we all need strong economic growth, new hope and a greater sense of solidarity," President Hollande said.

"In other words, we need change.”
