The Armed Forces has mounted a fisheries control operation after two Italian registered vessels were detected fishing in Maltese waters without the appropriate permits.

The vessels, LA Madonnina and Principessa Prima, were fishing within the Maltese Fisheries Conservation and Management Zone.

AFM soldiers boarded both vessels which are being brought to Malta for further investigation with the assistance of the Fisheries Control division.
