“I am deeply grateful to all those who worked so hard on the film and the endless hospitality and generosity of the people of Gozo.”
Written, directed and produced by Jolie, By the Sea is a dramatic film that draws the audience into a moving and intimate portrayal of a marriage in an apparent crisis.
The film was shot over nine weeks at Mġarr ix-Xini in Gozo.
Set during the 1970s in a quiet, French seaside town with residents and itinerant visitors, the film explores themes that accompany a life fully lived and our indomitable ability to repair and recover.
The drama also features actor and Jolie’s husband Brad Pitt.
By the Sea is Jolie’s directorial follow-up to Universal’s epic drama Unbroken, which opens in theatres on Christmas Day. By the Sea will be released in 2015.
