A 54-year-old man from Għajnsielem is in a critical condition after he was hit by falling stones while working in a quarry in Qala, the police said.

They said the accident, in Triq il-Fortin Sant’ Anton, took place at around 3pm.

The man was taken to Gozo General Hospital.

An inquiry is being held.
