Aaron Ciantar and his Chaudron team-mate Dominique Martini will be honoured by the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM) during a prize-giving ceremony in Monaco, tonight.

All protagonists from the 2014 championships, organised by the international governing body of power boating, will gather for a lavish celebration at the Salle de Etoille in Monte Carlo during which Ciantar and Martini will officially receive the trophies after a dominant performance in the World Offshore V1 Championship.

Returning to the competitive scene after an absence of three years, Ciantar and Martini showed they have lost none of their potential in the curtain-raiser at Ibiza in September as the two early summer legs in Ukraine and Bulgaria had to be scratched from the calendar.

In Ibiza, the Chaudron team battled through mechanical problems to take third spot in the first race before providing a show of force 24 hours later when they powered to victory to take the early lead in the world standings.

The second leg of the championship was held in Terracina, Italy.

Engine problems again hampered their chances of success in the first race but Chaudron then bounced back in the second race as Ciantar piloted his 41-foot boat to the front before sealing a precious runner-up spot that earned them enough points to maintain the lead in the championship.

Abu Dhabi was the venue for the third and final leg where the world title was decided.

Team Chaudron again showed their superiority to race home first in Race One before settling for a fourth-place finish in the second race that put them in an unassailable position at the top of the final standings.

For Ciantar, the 2014 title was his fourth as driver and sixth as manufacturer... a notable feat for the 35-year-old who has been involved in competitive powerboat racing for nearly a decade.
