Hundreds of skiers in the Italian Dolomites were lowered to safety after their cable car gondolas ground to a halt in high winds.

The skiers were plucking to safety after their cable cars came to a halt.

High winds had blown a tree over the cable, stopping some 20 cars from moving any further about 30 meters above ground.

No injuries were reported, as all the skiers were lowered to safety.
