National television station PBS have retained the exclusive free-to-air rights for the Champions League and Europa League after signing a new agreement with UEFA for seasons 2015-2018.

This was announced by chairman Tonio Portughese during a news conference that was also attended by Minister for Justice, Local Government and Culture Owen Bonnici, PBS CEO Anton Attard and Peter Cossai, the head of sports.

“PBS will be broadcasting weekly games throughout the European club season.

“There will be a total of 17 Champions League matchdays and 15 Europa League matchdays at all competition stages,” PBS said in statement.

The new deal complements another exclusive package for the 2018 World Cup European qualifiers, between September 2016 and October/November 2017.

PBS have already secured the rights to broadcast the 2017 Confederations Cup and 2018 World Cup, both to be played in Russia, and the 2022 World Cup finals, in Qatar.

It has also been announced that this weekend’s English FA Cup semi-finals, Arsenal vs Reading and Aston Villa vs Liverpool, are being shown live on TVM2.
