The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Anġlu Farrugia, has had talks with a delegation from the Romanian Chamber of Deputies led by President Valeriu Ștefan Zgonea, and comprising MPs Mihai Diaconu, Gliga Vasile, Senator Rozalia Biro and Director-General Ms Adelina Palade.

They discussed relations between the two countries. Dr Farrugia remarked that momentum gained in bilateral trade can be further improved, and that both sides can explore ways of collaboration on issues related to education and tourism.

He said Malta was ready to give technical assistance to Romania to assist it in its efforts to qualify for Schengen Membership.

On his part, House President Valeriu Stefan Zgonea said that Romania would be supportive of Malta’s efforts to tackle the irregular immigration and human trafficking problems in the Mediterranean.
