This evening’s edition of Times Talk will feature rare access to the Corradino Correctional Facility to analyse a programme available to reintegrate prisoners back into job scene once discharged.

A recent survey showed that just one out of 10 employers said they would hire a former inmate. Statistics show that nearly half of all former convicts will end up behind bars again. Many believe the time spent behind bars is not being used effectively enough to teach prisoners ways and means to reintegrate into society.

Tonight’s edition features an interview with two inmates undergoing a programme behind bars as well as interventions from Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Abela and Malta Employers’ Association director general Joe Farrugia.

Present in the studio will be criminologist Saviour Formosa, Mariella Camilleri, Assistant Director of the Department of Correctional Services, and George Busuttil from NGO Mid-Dlam Ghad-Dawl.

Presented by Times of Malta's head of media Herman Grech and chief reporter Mark Micallef, Times Talk is live on TVM on Tuesday at 6.45pm.
