The police yesterday identified a suspect after two women reported that a man tried to buy their daughters while walking along the Sliema front last Saturday, this newspaper has learnt.
But a spokeswoman for the police said today that the suspect was not the alleged offender and investigations are ongoing.
A police spokeswoman confirmed that two reports related to the case had been received.
Times of Malta reported on Tuesday the story of Anya Soldatova, 31, who felt “creeped out” when a Middle-Eastern-looking man, in his early 30s, offered to buy her two-year-old blonde daughter and kept upping the price until he reached €30,000.
