Malta has slipped four places in the business friendliness index released by the World Bank when compared to the previous year.

The 2015 Doing Business report ranks Malta in 94th place out of 189 economies. In the 2014 report, it placed 90th.

On a regional level, the latest report classifies Malta as having the least friendly-business environment among the 28 members of the EU. Denmark, ranked fourth in the global index, had the most business-friendly environment in the EU followed by the UK.

Malta’s ranking at the bottom of the EU’s table is preceded by the newest EU member state, Croatia and then by Cyprus.
