Brian Christopher Mifsud, from Canada, visited Malta four times in 14 years. When he flew over for the fifth time, he brought 20 other Mifsuds with him and they shot a video to prove that their family “is cooler than yours”.
The group of siblings, their partners, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends from Burlington, Oshawa and Toronto came to Malta for two weeks in July, retracing the footsteps of grandparents Joe and Jane Mifsud, from St Julian’s and Gżira.
When they got here they took Mr Mifsud up on his idea and shot a three-minute family video that has gone viral.
“My family is a lot of fun and very supportive of my career. When I proposed the idea, they thought it would be a great souvenir of our trip,” actor and filmmaker Mr Mifsud told this newspaper.

The 34-year-old first came to Malta when he was 18 and has been here four more times since.
His father, Charlie, was born in Malta and moved to the city of Burlington, which is 45 minutes west of Toronto, when he was just three years old.
The group of Mifsuds, including Charlie and Brian, visited the places where the Mifsud grandparents met, married, lived and went to church in Gżira.
“I stayed with them in Gżira for five months in 2004. It was so nice to spend that time with them and get to know where they’re from and how life is and was for them,” he said.
But the Mifsuds did not stop there. They visited the Three Cities, Paceville, Għaxaq, Sliema and Valletta, among others, and all these localities are featured in the video.
