Sliema coach Stephen Azzopardi has called on his players to be more ruthless in front of goal after the Blues missed a host of opportunities in a frustrating goalless draw against Qormi in midweek.

“Scoring has been our major weakness so far this season,” Azzopardi said ahead of Sliema’s clash with St Andrew’s tomorrow.

“Three goals in five matches is a poor return, given the quality of the forwards we have and the number of chances we are creating.”

Azzopardi is sure to be without midfielder Mark Scerri who is still sidelined with a head injury while defender Stefano Bianciardi (hamstring) and midfielder Johann Bezzina will undergo late fitness tests.

St Andrew’s are still without a point but their second-half fightback against Floriana will have enhanced the players’ confidence.

Wayne Attard, the Saints coach, welcomes back defender Michael Grima who has recovered from a hamstring injury.
