Eurostat statistics have confirmed the pressure on wages in Malta, with the growth momentum having slowed while it is matched by inflation, the Nationalist Party said today.

Eurostat said that wages in Malta increased by 1.6% up to September, which, the PN observed, was the slowest rise in the 15 months shown by the statistics. It was also among the lowest in the EU.

At the same time, inflation reached 1.6%.

The Eurostat figures showed that workers across Europe enjoyed a real increase of 2.1% while wages in Malta, because of inflation, had stagnated, the PN said.
