Members of the Road Safety Council and Transport Malta this morning distributed free breathalysers to passers-by in Valletta encouraging people to check their alcohol level before driving.

A spokesman said that the public’s response was very encouraging and some people turned up specifically to collect a breathalyser after hearing about the initiative on the news.

The disposable breathalysers have three levels of alcohol readings – 0.2, 0.5 and 0.8. It is safe for one to drive as long as the reading does not go over the 0.8.
