The term of the appointed chairman and members of the Broadcasting Authority expired on Thursday but no new members have been appointed, the Nationalist Party said.

Spokesman Clyde Puli said in a statement that because of this, the authority was not in a legitimate position to take important decisions especially regarding the PBS newsroom.

The PN, Mr Puli said, expected the Prime Minister to implement his constitutional duties without delay and appoint a new board following consultation with the Opposition leader for the democratic process to be safeguarded.
