The Nationalist Party this afternoon launched its second general convention, Idea Ambjent, being held this weekend. The convention, which will focus specifically on the environment, will be chaired by architect Simone Vella Lenicker.

Environment Shadow Minister Marthese Portelli said the convention would serve to highlight the importance of taking a more “holistic approach”, something which the Labour government was not doing.

“Looking ahead, the PN wants to come up with clear and concrete proposals, as was the case with the good governance document,” Ms Portelli said.

The convention will kick off on Friday, with discussions involving people in the media. Workshops with the public will be held on Saturday while Opposition leader Simon Busuttil will close the convention on Sunday.

The party’s first general convention, Idea Malta, was held in October 2014 and saw the PN inviting the public to weigh in on party policy as part of its restructuring process.
