Following on from last year’s hugely successful Fanfare Concert, the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra is teaming up with the UK’s CBeebies production team for an even more striking and memorable musical adventure this year.

The 60-minute programme, featuring some of the most exciting and famous works ever written, is specifically designed to encourage young children to experience the world of orchestral music in a purely fun and exciting way. They can expect to hear some children’s favourites by Rameau, Bizet, Faure, Rimsky-Korsakoff, Khachaturian and many others.

Conducted by Jason Lai and hosted by celebrated BBC presenter Kirsten O’Brien, this interactive performance will explore and explain the basics of music and the elements of the orchestra, and is sure to get children transported into the realm of magical music-making.

It is recommended for children who are between six and 12 years old, although younger and older audiences will not be excluded.

The MPO Family Fanfare Concert is being held at the Republic Hall of the Mediterranean Conference Centre on Saturday at 5pm.

Tickets at €4/€6 for children and €8/€12 for adults; family packages at €18/€26. Children are invited to book their place to participate in a free hands-on music workshop with members of the MPO educational team, which will take place at MCC prior to the concert, between 3.15 and 4.45pm.

For tickets e-mail bookings@mcc.com.mt or phone 2559 5750.
