BBC HARDtalk presenter Stephen Sackur will address students and academics in a public lecture to be held early next month, the University of Malta has announced. 

Mr Sackur has covered the Gulf War, reunification of Germany and Czechoslovakia's Velvet Revolution and interviewed countless world leaders and international personalities in a journalism career that spans 30 years. He has hosted the BBC's HARDtalk show since 2004.  

The English journalist will give two talks on Friday March 3. He will address University students and staff at 10.30am in a talk titled 'Building skills: public speaking and debate' which will be held at the University Quadrangle, and speak to journalists, media staff and members of the public at 6.30pm in a talk on 'investigative journalism: joys and throes'. 

The evening talk will be held at the University's Valletta campus. 

Mr Sackur has been invited to Malta by the newly-established University of Malta Debating Union, which seeks to promote debate and discussion and train students in the art and style of debate, in collaboration with the Tumas Fenech Foundation.
