During last weekend’s Age Group Meeting at the National Pool in Tal-Qroqq, Mya Azzopardi broke the national and Age Group D records for 50m backstroke with a time of 31.73 seconds.
The previous best mark for the event – 31.74 – belonged to Nicola Muscat and was achieved in July 2011. The old Age Group D record – 31.94 – also belonged to Muscat and was achieved in July 2010.
During the same meet, Azzopardi also broke the Age Group D record for the 200m Individual Medley with a time of 2:29.85, improving on her previous best of 2:31.43 which she had clocked in Serravalle, in February.
Meanwhile, during meets held in Aldershot (March 18) and Guildford (March 25), Amy Micallef broke the national records for the 100m and 200m breaststroke following new times of 1:14.13 and 2:42.62 in the two respective events.
Micallef had established the previous best time for the two distances – 1:14.36 and 2:42.64 – in Serravalle 2017 and Luxembourg 2016 respectively.
