Another tender forming part of the Water Services Corporation ‘Net Zero Impact Utility’ project has been published, for around 15km of trenching and the subsequent laying of around 45km of potable water mains.

The tender covers the trenching and pipelaying for the extension of the primary network distribution system to remote areas in Siggiewi, Zebbug and Qrendi.

The multimillion euro investment will target water quality and capacity improvement of the borehole and distribution system from the Qrendi reservoir to the Qattara borehole.

The call for offers for these works closes in the coming weeks and documents are available on http://www.wsc.com.mt/tenders/

CEO Richard Bilocca explained that at present water quality is different across localities.

“Thanks to projects similar to this, which form part of an over €100 million comprehensive infrastructural investment, the corporation will be in a position to ensure that the water that reaches users will be of the same improved quality across the islands, ” he said.

The project will be led by the Water Services Corporation and may be co-financed through Cohesion funds.
