Parliamentary Secretary Deo Debattista has promised a clean-up 'blitz' for the St Paul's Bay area following a memorandum of understanding signed on Monday between St Paul’s Bay Local Council and the Cleansing and Maintenance Division within his ministry.

The 'blitz' will also include Qawra, Buġibba and Xemxija.

 

St Pauls' Bay local council is paying the Cleaning and Maintenance Division for the cleanup.

As a result of the MOU the division will provide  an extra refuse collection service at 5pm from Monday to Sunday, additional street sweeping, street washing along the promenade, bay square and bus terminus each night, washing of litter bins and street furniture with hot water pressure; grass cutting works in all the residential areas, removal of illegally dumped waste and cleaning of all public toilets.

“We are dealing with a touristzone which attracts thousands of visitors, and whose residents deserve a clean, safe area, " Dr Debattista said.

"Since assuming responsibility of the Cleansing and Maintenance Division, I have ensured that we adapt to the needs of different localities so we can assist them in the best possible way”, he said. these localities, that this initiative will generate a much-needed change.
