Around 600 senior citizens have so far signed up for the University of the Third Age, whose academic year opened on Monday.

Applications remain open until the end of October.

The courses cover a wide range of topics from history and politics to art and culture. These are offered at five centres across Malta and Gozo.

The U3A is open to everyone above the age of 60 irrespective of any educational or academic qualifications. The annual fee, covering from October 2018 to June 2019, is €12.
