What's on the menu?

I have the tendency to eat fast. I don’t savour my food…I don’t chew it long enough and roll my eyes in ecstasy proclaiming it to be the best dish I’ve ever tasted. It’s more like… in between full forkfuls entering my mouth, I’ll mumble a compliment to the chef or choose not to communicate with anyone at all, while I just scoff at my meal.

I’ve been told to slow down when I eat ad nauseum and I’m bored of hearing it. I guess it’s just one of my traits. The desire to have it all and have it all at once. The impatience of waiting for something to happen kills me. And I’ll have none of waiting for my food to be served or to chew little morsels of it. I just scoop up as much of it as I can with my fork or spoon and shove it right into my mouth!

Last Sunday I was having lunch with my partner and I cheekily told him to slow down, as I thought he was seriously trashing me at what seemed like an eating competition!! He looked at me in disbelief and said “I just love stuffing my mouth…don’t you?” We then proceeded into analysing the whole aspect of us eating fast because, and concluded that we choose to eat like that because we love to grasp any opportunity which comes our way.

I eat fast because I like my food hot and if I eat any slower my food will get cold, tasteless and tough. In the same way any opportunity left sitting there without working on it might get stale and old and lost.

I’m going to take every opportunity which comes my way this summer….first up the Duran Duran concert is going to be amazing to play at. Duran Duran have a brilliant live act. Gone are the 80’s pompous quiffs, pastel coloured suits and make up …..all hail electric guitars, Simon Le Bon’s unique cry and incredible hook lines! This concert is going to be an incredible experience for me, both because it is nostalgia at its best and because Duran Duran are some of the best performers I have ever seen live!

The band and I will travel to Prague only a few days after, and that is going to be very special too. Firstly, we are head lining, meaning we will be closing the 3 day festival with a huge concert. The other exciting aspect is that a fan and his/her partner will be joining us on this trip! I can’t wait to know who the winner is, this is definitely going to be an experience for whoever wins. They will be joining us backstage, watching the live show and hanging around with us. We are going to have a blast! Good luck to the finalists!!!! See you in catering section backstage….I’ll be stuffing my face!!! As usual! Hehe

Hey, This is Jon from sixth simfoni. ive just notified me that we were discussed on this board so i took a look at whats being said.
Antonella- i have no idea what concert you are talkin about..
All i can say is that we are undergoing a huge project right now, infact im writing this email from Bastille Studios,Paris, home of many international hits. however we got here (among a whole host of other places)definitely not tru sponsorship. No company has put as much as a cent towards 6th simfoni and we dnt come from families that afford to push us financially. We gave up flashy cars, PS3s and endless nights out. any sponsorship we received is in goods or services but no cash was put towards our flying across europe and booking studios in London and Ibiza. Probably cause in Malta hiphop is not that big, so companies are scared to touch it. even though we are on such a different tip from ex. 50 cent and even though we are getting praise for our originality overseas. I love Malta but sometimes our small size causes for a corrupt system. Still I got love for Ira.

Well done for all your achievements Ira...and yes food is definitely my pleasure too!! You are the best!!
Alan Borg Zarb (on 30/7/08)
Maybe something like this would make a good hit song:

Jeremy and Johann, Puddin' and Pie,
Cursed Ira and made her cry,
When the blog visitors came out to write
Jeremy and Johann ran away.

I bet your mothers would buy it just to hear her son's name make it out in the public for their 15 minutes of fame in a lifetime :D :D :D
janice Ellul (on 30/7/08)
You're so damn wrong my dears.. anyways have it your way... for once i agree with jeremy, this has turned out to be so damn boring.. happy intelligent life to you both too, too bad you're the ONLY two inteligent guys here!!! Tata!!!! x x x
S Muscat (on 30/7/08)
I dont agree with various points mentioned by Mr Johann Vella, but I must say that I totally agree with him when saying "Shame with all this exposure and support she still hasn't made it big abroad".
Roger Peters (on 30/7/08)
well well Jeremy and you seem to be sitting by your computer waiting to pounce on them aren't you? ahhhh you give yourself away so easily my dear boy!

Just leave the poor lass alone!
Jeremy J Camilleri (on 30/7/08)
Damn..As soon as I bid adieu, I have to write again....

Janice...dear janice, johann did not state that Ira writes nursery ryhmes, but that if she did write nursery ryhmes, you'd still buy them......Get the point?

Now that desreves a better indignant PLEASE!!!! doesn't it!?

*sigh*
johann vella (on 30/7/08)
Janice!!! i was being sarcastic about the nursery rhymes!!!
bye bye enjoy your happy intelligent life. case definitively closed.
Ira should be so proud of her fans!!!!
janice Ellul (on 30/7/08)
hmmmm do i sense AN ENORMOUS contradiction here Mr Johann??? look at your 2nd post if you don't remember " dont get me wrong,I love Ira s music. " and NOW YOU ARE SAYING " Ms.Losco should be proud. she can write nursery rhymes and still sell albums to people like Sara, Malcolm ,Janice and Sharon" Hey man decide... if you like ira's music than you like her "nursery rhymes" too or maybe just tell the truth and say that you don't like ANYTHING about her at all.. so learn to be someone.. PLEASE!!!!
Jeremy James Camilleri (on 30/7/08)
Dear Michelle,

You seem to know Ira personally.....

But Iam sure you have no personal interest whatsoever.....

As for C Catania...stating that you support ANY local band, just because it is local is stupid.

Maybe you should stop buying foreign products, and just buy local ones....now that would be really patriotic!

Jealousy is a disease.....but then again, so is stupidity.....Get Well soon.....

Ps..Now that I have had the pleasure of expressing my opinion on such a loving crowd I must admit that it is all getting way too boring.

.So I bid you adieu, and hope to see you all on tour....or shall i? Anyways, I guess i'll see you all when you're all grown up! : Op
Sonia Zammit (on 30/7/08)
Ehm .... did any of you read the article? None of the comments below refers to anything that Ira wrote, how funny ! By the time we've ended up writing commetns, Ira's hair will be shoulder length again :o)))

I loved Ira and I danced till the end of the Duran Duran concert. Also I love stuffing my mouth too. The article was about these two subjects, no ?
Michelle Debono (on 30/7/08)
On another note dear Jeremy you preach about criticism and open blogs where anyone can write whatever they want so please do not stoop down low yourself by saying others are. It is a blog and since you write people are allowed to criticize you and say what they think about you, maybe by stooping down low just like you do.
Hadrian Agius (on 30/7/08)
All this BLA BLA BLA cos i just stated that I don't like Ira's hairstyle !!!! :-)
My God!!! How much hatred!!!!
ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE!!
Michelle Debono (on 30/7/08)
Dear Jeremy,

Been following these messages and thought i should at least inform you that Ira Losco's full time job is her music so she does not have to ask anyone for leave or permission to leave the island.
The elevated platform you state she always had, in my opinion knowing Ira and her management very well have earned it rightly so. You see, putting music first in your life is had work. Meaning working 24hrs forgetting everyone around you to eventually achieve this status. It is not because you know people but how credible you are as an artist how willing to sacrifice all even the ones you love dearly and how hard working you are. Just for all this alone you should stop being nasty and shut up.
About Ira and success i think you are very nasty to state such a comment "...I would bet anyone, anything, that Ira will never have a hit record!".... Well I know for a fact it takes years and years of hard work to get that hit record internationally( because She has been there in Malta several times) so I totally do not agree.
johann vella (on 30/7/08)
Sara to stoop so low as to redicule my name is just stupid and deserves no further comments
Ms.Losco should be proud. she can write nursery rhymes and still sell albums to people like Sara, Malcolm ,Janice and Sharon.
Ryan this was never an attack on Ms.Losco.I never said I dislike her or her music.that is totally besides the point.
Shame with all this exposure and support she still hasn't made it big abroad.maybe you should all join her entourage and beat the crap out of who does not clap at the end of a song at any of her gigs.Im sure you ll still be writing in favour of her in a couple of years time when she does a Fabrizio and goes back into Maltasong mode for a second attempt for some international exposure.case closed.

C.Catania (on 30/7/08)
to jeremy...
why don't you try to produce an album... and we'll see who will make a hit record first between you and Ms.Losco.... Janice I agree 100% with you.... and btw jeremy if you wil attack me by saying that i am biased as well as janice and the others my i tell you that i just support ANY local music be it Ira Losco, scar, scream daisy, salt, winter moods, eve ransom etc. Jelousy is a desease so get well soon my friend!
janice Ellul (on 30/7/08)
Mr Jeremy, you were the one who wanted to burst into tears in the first place.. check below. Stop taking the mickey out of us, we have the right to be her fans, everybody here has his opinion.. and you must respect that!! Merci!!!
Janice Ellul (on 30/7/08)
Dera Johann, when I said I am a fan of local music means that I like local music, one CANNOT LIKE all bands!!! Come on!!! Ma x'biza fikom man!!!! and by liking a band more than another means that i hate the other??? What the?!?!? Does that mean that if i have a group of friends and I like one more than I like the other means that I hate that one?!??!?! Why am I even wasting my time here?!?!?! You are obviously filled with jealosy!!!! You know guys I sometimes think people like Johan and Jeremy read these blogs just to find a fault in what Ira says...Maaaaaa!!!
Jeremy J Camilleri (on 30/7/08)
One last point, once again, since you never did get the point in the first place. It is undeniable that Ira has been given a push by authorities time and time again. A friend of mine, who is in a band, which incidentally regularly tours Europe with the giants of their genre, is not even granted special leave, and he's a government employee. Talk about different weights! Thi swas never about Ira's talent, but about the elevated platform that she had from the start.
As for Ryan deciding were I should right, thats a jog. Is he the new blog security manager now? As for Janice stating that since is an Ira blog, the subject is Ira, with such statements no wonder you're so fit to burst into tears at any moment. Its on the Tims my dear, and everything here is open for debate....Shock Horror!!!!
Jeremy J Camilleri (on 30/7/08)
First of all, doubting my sex, and worst of all, my name, just goes to show how low one can try to stoop to make a point, but I guess Sarah and Sharon would not know any better.

As for claiming that I am jealous, well, thats one big laugh. I do not play in a band, and as such, jealousy was never an issue here.As for my critiscing, this is an open blog, and I have every right to critisce. If people can't accept criticism aimed at their idols(even if that was not the point, remember the Blinders?) that is their problem and not mine. As for Malcolm's reference to servile culture, I would like to point out the fact that stressing that someone deserves success just because they are of your nationality is the result of a servile culture, but then again, I don't think he'll get that! One last thing before all you Ira clones gang up once again...I would bet anyone, anything, that Ira will never have a hit record!
johann vella (on 30/7/08)
janice just by stating you are a fan of local music makes u biased.I see many local bands, but cannot consider myself to be fan off all of them. But just by liking one band more or one artist more in this counrty means you either 'hate' or 'are speaking in behalf of someone else' as Antonella accused me of.
Ryan Ellul (on 30/7/08)
Who is asking anyone to be impressed? Performing alongside Gigi D'Alessio , Laura Pausini , Elton John, Katie Melua, Mel C, Kt Thunstal ,Tokyo Hotel and many more big acts and now headlining in Prague ...ALL on foreign grounds is news value .
I've been following Ira since Tiara and she hasn't stopped evolving even though she had a Eurovision entry BUT at least she came 2nd.
I've met Ira twice and she is so down to Earth the last thing she would be is impressed is by her own achievements . She strikes me to be very ambitious.
So what exactly are you suggesting that BIG names have been supported by other local acts or performed to crowds bigger than 25,000 people? And if so who cares? it's an achievement which makes me proud to be Maltese. The more the better. What does having a sponsor got to do with concerts . Do you think concert organizers will ask for an artist who attracts 300 people or 3000 people? What exactly is your point of commenting on a blog who you obviously dislike? Move on to blogs you're impressed by!
Tony Scicluna (on 30/7/08)
I'm in my 40s and i remember the Maltese music scene very clearly these last 30 years. You want to talk about monopoly ? Then you have to go back in time to fully understand it.

I believe these last 4 years have been the best years in local music . And i have to say we have no one to thank but Ira Losco , Winter Moods and Tribali because somehow they managed to cause a ripple effect of self belief, good music , awareness and marketing.

Now don't get me wrong i'm not a fan . I think Winter moods are quite boring and Ira Losco is a bit too rocky for my likes but there is no doubt that she is a great singer with the best interpretation i've heard from a local in ages. Having said that i've seen this years MTV side concerts at Buggiba and Paceville and i was far from impressed and very disappointed. No wonder other bands are not being asked to support big names on big stages because they can't handle it . Sorry.

Just let the girl be ...She's done nothing to deserve your comments.
Malcolm Degiorgio (on 30/7/08)
I never thought i would have to write on this blog as what seemed to be a light overview of opinions and views has suddenly changed into an envious and short sighted bickering. What is Jeremy Camilleri talking about? Marc Storace who's a friend of mine struck a deal as a singer with a foreign band 20 years ago when record deals were still happening if the act was good enough and nothing to be taken away from Marc as he's a great singer , BUT has anyone have any clue of what merged record labels have reporting in the last 4 years? Apparently not ! Joseph Calleja another great singer is in a genre where its not so much about the record label, MTV etc.. but the performances along side other opera singers in various hot spots. And then he comes to Malta and attract 3000 people max. WOW ! The problem lies with the Maltese audience who don't appreciate anything that is local because we have an envious culture and don't want other locals to be higher up on the ladder than us. Envious people like Jeremy Camilleri are victims of this servile culture ..
Sara Spiteri (on 29/7/08)
To Jeremy and Johann...you are giving us the impression of being personally and negatively affected in one way or another by Ira's success...seems like you have played in front of a crowd of 80,000 people attending a concert just for you...do you know how many years it took Madonna to become famous in her own State?...there's no time limit given to an artist to become popular and successful as you say...so i would like to ask...who are you to limit and criticize Ira's work?..is it that the "small" amount of success Ira had and is having bothering you so much?do i sense some bitter jealousy?..well seems like it..so if it's not the case...you'd do well in expressing yourself better...coz the only thing you've managed to do so far is criticize others (Ira and her fans)..after all no one is forcing you to listen to Ira's music and who are YOU to question Ira's success or not?Your words are obviously a result of jealousy...although you really could have chosen a better name...Jeremy J Camilleri and Johann Vella!
janice (on 29/7/08)
Mr Jeremy Camilleri the subject obviosuly is ira.. this is an Ira Losco Blog.. I know what the word biased mean.. and you certainly do know the meaning as well.. oh sorry for the tears thing © Mr.Jeremy Camilleri... No I was just crying to show sympathy with your tears :-) Good Night!
Sharon Abela (on 29/7/08)
My goodness you men ( if you really are men at the end of the day!) You seem to have a lot of anger towards Ira Losco...... Lets face it she is very good at what she does, especially after hearing the last album something must be wrong. Did you Johann and Jeremy hear her latest release? I suggest you do. A lot of hard work is involved in the music industry and your comments just show me how you guys know jack sh** about it.
Amanda Muscat (on 29/7/08)
dear johan,,,johann vella (4 hours, 7 minutes ago)
to amanda.. of course you dont.all you can say i would guess is i love u Ira and good luck with everything you do.and Sarah.when she gets an 80 000 crowd for herself, then ill be impressed.

if i can say that than i should b proud of saying it....heh whatever......the way you concluded your point is really childish!! heh damn ...now i just noticed i wasted time answering you.....*sigh*....uqqq!!
Jeremy J Camilleri (on 29/7/08)
oh janice..First of all its decent of you to retract your first position, in which you factually stated, that Ira was the best. Now the more diplomatic " in your opinion" gets shovelled in to add credence! Prosit!
Now, justy a small fact. I have seen a number of foreign bands abroad, and have been in crowds of 20 000. Hardly anyone knows anything about the supporting bands, so trust me, if you asked the majority of those 80 000 people who Ira was, they'd look back in brain fuddled amusement and perhaps a whiff of consternation!
As to your statement that your comments are not biased, how can they not be? the subject is Ira, and you are an Ira fan. In any case,do you know the meaning of the word bias? I doubt it.

As to my bringing tears to your eyes(hint of copyright anyone?), I have stated facts, including the names of Maltese artists who have made it abroad? is that what made you cry?other performers making it abroad? If you are a fan of Maltese talent, I am surprised as to how you never made any reference to these REAL success stories! Marc Storace WHO?
janice (on 29/7/08)
Dear jeremy J Camilleri, I'm sorry to have brought tears to your eyes, i assure it was not my intention though I must say you have brought tears to mine. I must be honest wih you Ira is definitely my favourite artist but FYI I also support other local bands especially SALT. Obviously everyone here has his own favourite artist, and mine happens to be ira. If in my opinion she is the best (it does not mean others are not good) you can't say that I wear " blinders and exercising fanatic etc... " And PLEASE to everyone I can't stand it when you say she has supported every foreign band in malta.. that is SO untrue. And come on she has also supported also a lot of artists abroad... as Sara Spiter said.. if you call the concert in germany with 80 000 people just a gig.. I dont know what your idea of a great gig is. please not i am a fan of local music and I assure you my comments are not biased
johann vella (on 29/7/08)
to amanda.. of course you dont.all you can say i would guess is i love u Ira and good luck with everything you do.and Sarah.when she gets an 80 000 crowd for herself, then ill be impressed.
Amanda Muscat (on 29/7/08)
I dont think i should add more to antonella pace's text!...
Sara Spiteri (on 29/7/08)
Dear Johann, I think you are very mistaken in what you say...First of all there's no doubt that Ira is the best local talent so far..if you call an 80,000 audience "a couple of gigs in Germany " then please let us know what your idea of a very well attended "gig" is. Everything in Malta is about knowing people, but Ira has only achieved all she has thanks to her determination, hard work and not letting other people break her or convince her to give up.

Ira has definitely NOT supported all the foreign acts who came to Malta...and every act she has supported was well-deserved...the music industry is a world of intense competition and fortunately only the best survive!!We cannot afford to have good acts represent our country and leave the best at the side. No other artists in Malta have achieved what Ira has and is continuing to achieve...and that is a fact!Popular performers ask for and want Ira..we should be proud of this talent and help her become as big as possible! This is all written black on white...she's the best we've got and us Maltese support her! Go for it Ira!
Jeremy J Camilleri (on 29/7/08)
The truth is, that people like you, wearing blinders and exercising fanatic, amoebic interest in an artist, help that particular artist to get pigeonholed and stuck in a rut.

As for stating that anyone who criticises is hating...have you ever heard the term constructive critiscm Amanda?

The sad thing is that people like you do the Maltese music scene and for that matter, the artists you adore absolutely no favours.
Jeremy J Camilleri (on 29/7/08)
Is it possible for people like Janice and Antonella to comment about a subject without getting too emotional. They're bringing tears to my eyes. Their stating that they are dedicated Ira fans autmoatically goes to show that any comments they make are biased.
Lets state the facts. Ira has been striving to achieve overseas success for ages. This success has proved fleeting to say the least. She has been given heaps of exposure by the media ,especially state owned more so than other performers. That is another fact . Maltese performers who have made it abroad exist. Marc Storace, for example has sold more than 7 million albums. Do you know who he is? probably not. He did so with NO help. Joseph Calleja was only given prominence in Malta AFTER making it abroad. Ira, to date has not even come close to these MALTESE performers. She would probably be the first to admit that.As for Keith stating that people like Johann as foreign band's lackeys, well, what do you think about Ira SUPPORTING foreign bands? In your own words, was she kissing Le Bon's A%%!? My God you're so narrow minded. You should have the George cross tatooed on your forehead!
Peter Grixti (on 29/7/08)
Case in point... the local music scene..

As always this is a very heated subject.. why? because instead of helping each other out, Maltese people, compete and do their utmost to be the best.. Now being the best is great, but WHAT IS THE REAL BEST?!!

In my opinion, and I repeat, I state opinions here not LAWS!! I tend to agree quite a lot with what Mr J Vella said there... A lot of artists are tossed aside from shows and concerts that would definitely generate so much more to both the band and the local scene, and WHY, you ask?

The reason why certain local artists get tossed aside, is because they offer very few or no income at all for the enormous monopolist companies who sponsor other artists... I'm not saying that these sponsored artists are not worthy of this glory, OF COURSE THEY ARE, but i sincerely believe that MALTA NEEDS SOME NEW FACES, TUNES and most importantly NEW IDEAS!!!!

thanks..

PS. I like Ira's music... and I think she's a very good performer, but this new monopolistic system will ultimately cage her. Again that's just an opinion.. :)
Antonella Pace (on 29/7/08)
The metal fest last weekend is an evidence of that! Actually I’m very happy that the underground scene has so much support! Good on them! Now THERE’s a group of people who really appreciate their musicians. Unfortunately all I see amongst our local ‘rock-pop-indie’ band fans is lots of destructive criticism and envy…and yours is not constructive…but it’s quite obvious you’re speaking on behalf of someone else!
Antonella Pace (on 29/7/08)
Great so now Amanda's and OUR intelligence is insulted too! Of course Iwe know all those bands in actual fact ,Steve, Ira’s drummer also plays with Slit and has been on tour with them….as he has also been on tour with Ira! So where’s the difference in that? I’ll tell you were. In the Genre of music and every issue that goes with that. Now if you’re defending underground bands then THAT’s a whole different ball game and you cannot expect your sponsor argument making any sense there….for the only reason that an underground band has completely different sponsorship deals! I can’t see someone like “Cradle of Filth” or “Korn” or “System of A down” or “Between the Buried and Me” promoting banking, food chains or anything of the sort. Their music calls for a different audience…as are the audience of Slit, Beheaded etc.
johann vella (on 29/7/08)
Amanda... just one point. you mentioned Winter Moods. Arent they too sponsored by the cellular phone company who sponsored the event? as is Ira? Antonella.you make me chuckle.
if you followed sixth symphony s reality show, the singer himself said sometimes its a shame to be maltese..now they are trying hard for their success.you are so naive in believing that sponsors do not dictate or have a say in supporting acts.
the best one is the mention about not being on a particular station!! ha ha!!why don't you go into politics? you sure got the right attitude, unable to handle criticism and just lash out at anyone who does not agree with you.sad is how i describe people like you.
Ira with all the support she has, will stay here, except for as a couple of gigs here and there arranged by her management.ans underground bands like Slit ,Beheaded and even Beangrowers (Antonella have you ever even heard of these bands?!?!?!) will continue to 'evolve in a wonderful way'.
i say this cos she 'is not on the station I want her to be seen on'. sad.

Janice Ellul (on 28/7/08)
So damn right Ms Antonella Pace. I was going to comment but then i read your comments and you pointed out every single TRUE and SENSIBLE point. You're the best Ira, Cu next friday and in Prague :-) oh and... a very Happy Birthday :-) x x x
Antonella Pace (on 28/7/08)
There seems to be so much hatred and dislike for someone making some sort of success….regardless of whether it is as INTERNATIONAL…or big or small as YOU …Johann deem fit to be! At least she is one of some local artists who are making their music their ultimate goal for succeeding. And also for your information it is NOT the sponsors who dictate artists that will play support to a foreign band. Sixth Simfoni for example are playing a concert supporting a myriad of artists coming over from abroad…so it isn’t ALWAYS Ira playing support now is it? AND ….she is also playing the Beer Festival which so happens to be free….so if you’re insinuating that other upcoming emerging artists always get the CHEAP deal think again…as far as I remember Chasing Pandora a new act last year..had given their First concert at St James cavalier against payment, so get your facts very right Johann! And stop the …hating…so us all a favour….
Antonella Pace (on 28/7/08)
But may you ALSO be informed that…surprise surprise the MTA did NOT even bother to invite Ira on the golden circle stand where maybe …just MAYBE…after all our money has been invested to bringing over MTV…the station you so want her to be seen on…Maybe she could’ve followed up some of the valuable work put in all of last year after that concert….and after having impressed with her memorable performance last year, had the MTA bothered to be courteous enough to invite her. Some of you people just make me laugh!
Antonella Pace (on 28/7/08)
I would suggest that you put forth your complaint to ALL local Promoters if you feel that Ira should not be the ONLY artist supporting foreign acts. For the matter you could also include Winter Moods then! However For your information there have been MANY new emerging acts playing support to foreign artists or cover bands who have visited our island, you may wish to ask again your source of information …since you seem to be routing for SOMEONE in particular!!!. Ira was not even included in the latest MTV Malta week either, many emerging bands like ‘No Snow No Alps’ and also established ones like ‘Bitterside’ were asked to play.
Amanda Muscat (on 28/7/08)
dear johann..everything starts from home.she is achieving a lot frm Malta.slowly abroad..but that is all about music background..didnt u see wintermoods before bryan adams concert??thats another band with great achievements+ i didnt put words in ur mouth.read ur text carefully.by saying"I watch MTV .apparently u dont.. after all these promises, all these years yes we see new hairstyles but never see Ira on it" you only named MTV..then what do you tell me about her performances at tours like Elton John, Katie Melua & Melanie C?aren't they huge music names? and the cover versions sung by popular Michelle Hunziker of Ira's songs..and the concerts both in Malta and Italy when an artist like claudio baglioni asked for her participation and gigi d'allesio..? aren't these achievements.do you know Ira is also soon leaving for Prague and will be closing a 3 day festival there?and many awards loacally..people vote for these awards so you can see feedback of maltese music listeners..as keith named other bands i also agree...these are beginning to evolve.Ira didnt start as ira alone...she started in a band called Tiara....and now u can see the difference.but this comes by time and work.i dont think ira found everything ready for her
johann vella (on 28/7/08)
amanda what achievements?! just cos she played a couple of gigs in Germany and she supported a couple of artists who came to Malta?!and released a couple of albums locally?!
Amanda dont put words in peoples mouths...I did not say just because she s not on MTV means she s not good... my point is with 'so many artists evolving in a wonderful way' u never see any of them supporting the foreign bands that come to the island do you?! its always her. give other bands a chance!
if anything I did not 'put down an artists name' I am stating a fact.Keith with all the ' really good; eve ransom, chasing pandora, uncharted, bitterside etc.', did you see any of them supporting Duran Duran on Saturday?
NO.
cos of the sponsorships. its not about talent here.its about who you know.
dont get me wrong,I love Ira s music. my point is totally opposed to what u accused me Amanda Muscat and Keith,I appreciate local artists. I just dont support one specifically like you do.
one Final point to Keith.. I bet you go and see all the names you mentioned at local free gigs in bars eh?
*sigh*

Come on Hadrian and Johann ! She's not that bad!

well said amanda!
it seems that some of us ('maltese') only like to kiss other foreigners ' a**es!!
we should appreciate ira 's fabulous work! people like you (johann vella) are always trying to demoralise maltese talent. she's not the only good artist in malta...apparently there are a lot who are really good; eve ransom, chasing pandora, uncharted, bitterside etc.
But each one of us has to admit that she is the greatest on the island.

@Johann Vella - "Seems like you reason like all the local promoters here. Its like she s the only artist on the island. we never change"

Ira if not the best on the island (for me she is the BEST) is just outstanding,.....DO you follow Maltese music???.....-DO you read on achievements ira conquered?? MTV is not everything....Ira writes her music which such a talent.... u can see she gives everything into it....and most of allll many people fell her music and transfers emotions throughout....

like ira many artists here in malta are evolving in a wonderful way ...and not being on mtv doesnt mean they're not good...and if promoters act in such a way ...i think its because they see results from doing sooo!!!...so for once try not to comment negatively or trying to put down an artist name!!!...

TRY APPRECIATE MALTESE ARTISTS...

Arlette I watch MTV .. apparently u dont. ... after all these promises, all these years yes we see new hairstyles but never see Ira on it. Seems like you reason like all the local promoters here. Its like she s the only artist on the island. we never change.

I'm going to the concert tomorrow and can't wait to see Ira live again...I watched her at Sky and was very very impressed with her and the band. Erm...Hadrian...WHAT exactly are you on about? are you a Eurovision fan By any chance..I like Ira's changing style it makes her look so hot, trendy and it goes with her music....does anyone ever watch MTV at all???? you said OLD Hadrian doesn't THAT give you a bit of an indication that NEW things are needed!!!

@ Ira: Go Girl! Keep up the good work!

@Hadrian Agius: ROFLMAO!!!
Hadrian Agius (on 24/7/08)
Hi ira, is there any chance you change your horrible hair style? You look a lot like Edward Scissorhands. You looked much cuter with your old hair style!!
