ONE MISSED CALL
thriller
What will it sound like when you die? A chain of people receive terrifying cell phone messages of their own final fatal moments. Beth Raymond (Shannyn Sossamon) is traumatised when she witnesses the gruesome deaths of two friends just days apart. Even more disturbing, she knows that both of them had received chilling cell phone messages ‒ actual recordings of their own horrifying last moments.
Impossibly, the calls were received days before they died, but each death occurred precisely when and how the messages foretold.
The police think Beth is delusional ‒ except for Detective Jack Andrews (Edward Burns), whose own sister was killed in a freak accident that bears a strange similarity to the deaths of Beth's friends. Together, Jack and Beth work feverishly to unravel the mystery behind the ominous calls.
But even as they get closer to the truth, Beth's cell phone begins to ring with an eerie tune, and the readout says One Missed Call...
IRON MAN
actionFrom Marvel Studios and Paramount Pictures comes Iron Man, an action-packed take on the tale of wealthy philanthropist Stark (Robert Downey Jr), who develops an invulnerable robotic suit to fight the throes of evil. In addition to being filthy rich, billionaire industrialist Stark is also a genius inventor. When is kidnapped and forced to build a diabolical weapon, he instead uses his intelligence and ingenuity to construct an indestructible suit of armour and escapes his captors. Once free, Stark discovers a deadly conspiracy that could destabilise the entire globe, and dons his powerful new suit on a mission to stop the villains and save the world. Gwyneth Paltrow co-stars as his secretary, Virginia "Pepper" Potts, while Terrence Howard fills the role of Jim "Rhodey" Rhodes, one of Stark's colleagues, whose military background leads him to help in the formation of the suit.
STREET KINGS
thrillerTom Ludlow (Keanu Reeves) is a veteran LAPD vice detective who sets out on a quest to discover the killers of his former partner, detective Terrance Washington (Terry Crews). Forest Whitaker plays Captain Wander, Ludlow's supervisor, whose duties include keeping him within the confines of the law and out of the clutches of Internal Affairs Captain Biggs (Hugh Laurie). Ludlow teams up with a young robbery homicide detective (Chris Evans) to track Washington's killers through the diverse communities of Los Angeles. Their determination pays off when the two detectives track down Washington's murderers and confront them in an attempt to bring them to justice.
LOOK BOTH WAYS
actionAdelaide news photographer Nick (William McInnes) is told that he has testicular cancer but can't get any more details until Monday. At a grisly train accident he snaps a picture of the victim's wife arriving on the scene, which is used by the paper on its front page. Artist Meryl (Justine Clark) is a witness to the tragedy. She returns to her studio and continues to fantasise gory deaths and accidents all around her, while producing pretty images for greeting cards. Nick lives in the same neighbourhood and over the weekend he visits her and they start a romance. After taking Meryl to meet his mother, Nick breaks down, which Meryl thinks is a cheap excuse to dump her. Meanwhile, other characters associated with the accident have their own morbid reactions.
