New Ford Focus ST is here

Gasan Enterprises has received the latest Ford Focus model, the sporty ST, which according to Jost Capito, director of Ford Team RS, is "something quite special".

From a design point of view, he explained, the ST version of the new Focus was intended to highlight this even more strongly than before.

The front view has a more distinctive light cluster, lower bumper with integrated fog lights and wider lower grill.

From the side, the extended rocker panels emphasise the lowered chassis and the bold wheel arches are filled with unique 18-inch x 8.0 alloy wheels.

At the rear, the Focus ST gets a new bumper with integrated lower diffuser framing two generously proportioned exhaust pipes and distinctive fins that increase stability significantly at high speeds, clearly underlining the car's performance characteristics.

The highlight of the ST is a turbocharged 2.5-litre Duratec five-cylinder engine exclusively available on this model, providing exciting performance and a delightful sound. With 225 PS at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque (pulling power) of 320 Nm available throughout the range from 1,600 to 4,000 rpm, the Focus ST responds diligently to the enthusiastic driver's expectations of pure performance, ride and handling.

The distinctive interior features Recaro seats with an optional Recaro rear bench, three additional gauges housed in a dedicated binnacle on the upper instrument panel for oil pressure, turbo boost and oil temperature, and carbon-look panels on the centre stack, switch bezels and centre console.

Focus ST gets the Premium centre console and 'Ford Power' start button as standard equipment. The interior ambience of the new Focus ST clearly signals its sporting intent. Racing pedals, a unique handbrake cover and leather gear knob are complemented by carbon-effect finish on the centre stack, centre console and switch bezels.

Black headlining, 'ST' door scuff plates and a unique ST leather 3-spoke steering wheel complete the special style.

The highly specified ST costs €39,133, including Sony radio/CD, metallic ST pedals, three-spoke leather steering wheel that is adjustable for rake and reach, switchable traction control, central console with movable armrest and front seat back map pockets.
