Twin Top awards raise the Astra's roof

It has a three-piece roof, so it's more than appropriate that Opel's Astra Twin Top now has three pieces of silverware stashed in its cleverly-designed boot after it scooped the prestigious Auto Express gong, and two more accolades in the Diesel Car of the Year Awards.

The coupe-convertible version of the ever-popular Astra wowed the judges describing it as: "Handsome as a hatch, the Astra looks even more striking as a convertible. Affordable to buy and run, it comes with a strong range of engines including a 150bhp diesel and a punchy 200bhp 2.0-litre turbo petrol."

The Astra Twin Top uses the latest in roof technology with a retractable hard top. Just one press of a button and the uniquely designed three-piece roof neatly folds away into a compact space behind the rear seats.

Unlike other coupe cabriolets, the car's rear-end looks are preserved allowing passengers to enjoy a generous amount of interior space. Besides, it has been designed from the ground up to be a convertible. It has a reassuringly tough body shell maintaining the hatchback model's enviable safety record and acclaimed driving dynamics.

The Astra Twin Top comes in a variety of vibrant colours with unique shades for every type of personality. Whether it's fiery in 'Flame Red', sexy in 'Black Sapphire', breeze by in 'Metro Blue', or uber-cool in 'Ultra Blue', the Astra Twin Top has a range of colours sure to turn heads.

The Twin Top also builds on Opel's reputation for stylish design inside too with brand new trims and upholstery, including luxurious 'saddle brown' leather and the new Linea Rossa leather.

Prices start at €30,165 (Lm12,950). Throughout June a further discount of €1,300 applies.
