DJs Rolando and Juan Atkins for Squadron Festival 2008
Following the massive success of Squadron Festival's first edition, which attracted over 2,500 partygoers, the highly anticipated 2008 edition is back on July 19, at Buskett Roadhouse. Last year's edition, held in October, was widely acclaimed as one of the best events of 2007 with Marshall Jefferson, Dr Lektroluv and Spacid headlining.
The respect and following Squadron have managed to build up over the years is mainly due to the fact that they've always kept true to their own unique style, being able to offer their followers a different and vibrant atmosphere at each Squadron event.
Squadron Festival has been a progression of the Squadron party values: innovation, quality music and great atmosphere, and has struck a cord with all partygoers as the yearly festival.
The formula is simple, house, electro & techno legends together with the cream of the crop from today's modern dance music scene.
Proudly presenting one of the biggest line-ups ever to hit Malta, Squadron can confirm no less than four international heavyweight headliners at this year's festival.
The legendary artist behind the all-time classic track Knights of the Jaguar DJ Rolando, one of the true Godfathers of dance music Juan Atkins, and Bunker Records' finest Legowelt and Bangkok Impact.
Moreover, top local DJs will also make sure to keep the party rocking throughout.
Undoubtedly DJ Rolando's track Knights of the Jaguar is still considered one of the greatest club anthems ever, a classic in the boxes of DJs such as Danny Tenaglia, Erick Morillo, Pual Oakenfold, Pete Tong, Dave Clarke and Richie Hawtin to name but a few.
J Rolando will be hitting the decks hard and fast after a long 10-year absence since his last visit to the islands.
This is a one-off chance to finally witness live on the decks this highly influential dance music legend. Squadron are also proud to present a historic first time appearance of the originator of techno & electro, Juan Atkins aka Model 500.
To complete an already outstanding line-up the Squadron crew have decided to bring over two infamous live acts who have long been synonymous with Squadron's success, Legowelt, and the electro disco genius Bangkok Impact, both from the legendary Dutch label Bunker Records.
Squadron have always had a strong reputation for their innovative and original artworks, and for this year's event, the Squadron team have linked up with design collective Area.
As well as producing a range of strictly limited edition T-shirts, Area will be spreading their "design energy" all over the festival experience, from promo artwork to event visuals. Collectively, the aim is to make Squadron Festival 2008 one of the most exciting events ever to hit Malta.
