The Bishops of Malta and Gozo yesterday appealed for prayers for persecuted Christians.
Archbishop Paul Cremona, Gozo Bishop Mario Grech and Auxiliary Bishop Charles Scicluna expressed concern about the persecution of Christians in various countries, particularly Iraq, where hundreds have been forced to flee their homes.
The bishops reiterated the call made by Pope Francis for reconciliation, insisting that violence can only be overcome by peace.
