A total of 10,467 tickets have been issued after motorists were caught speeding on the Mriehel bypass by speed cameras there, according to information given in Parliament.

The total value was €682,910 of which €31,971 still have to be paid.

Labour MP Roderick Galdes in a question to the Prime Minister asked if the revenue from the tickets would fund the building of a footbridge over the bypass.

Dr Gonzi said the ADT applied to Mepa for the building of the footbridge three years ago. It did not appear that Qormi council ever discussed using this revenue for the building of the bridge.
