A group of 100 foundation doctors were welcomed in the public service today by Parliamentary Secretary for Health Chris Fearne at Mater Dei Hospital.

Mr Fearne urged the new doctors to be agents of change who were not afraid to responsibly challenge science whilst working hand in hand with other medical professionals to achieve the best possible care for patients.

During their two-year programme, foundation doctors begin to take supervised responsibility for patient care and consolidate the skills that they learnt at medical school. Hands on training, interaction with patients and collaboration with other professionals will provide them with the appropriate experience to turn every challenge that they will encounter into opportunities, the Secretariat for Health said.
