As most of your readers may know, newlyweds are entitled to get the VAT back on the expenses they had incurred on their wedding day.
But what many of the readers might not know is that it does not make any difference whether you had paid 15 per cent VAT or 18 per cent VAT on wedding expenses. You get the VAT back at the rate of 13.01 per cent.
This rate has been such, since before the three per cent VAT increase and has remained so until today, despite the fact that we had paid three per cent more on wedding expenses due to the increase.
You also get back the maximum sum of Lm750 on wedding expenses. Mind you, none of the conditions mentioned above are present in written form on any application and/or conditions available to the public regarding this tricky scheme.
You get to know them as a honeymoon treat when you see the cheque with a dismal sum printed on it.
