Fourteen men of Asian and Arab origin were yesterday conditionally discharged for a month for being in Malta illegally.

Kalimullah Shad Qureshi, 43, of Pakistan; Latief Samir Ben Mohammed, 25, of Tunisia; Pawan Kumar, 34, Sajan Singh, 23, Sarbit Singh, 23, Sukhwinder Singh, 26, Nishan Singh, 35, Kesar Singh, 35, and Gursewak Singh, 24, of India; Lemairi Hesain Ahmed, 25, Ausama Mohamed Alhwamdi, 19, Khalid Mohamed Hawemdi, 25, Ben Saleh Abdalla Rashed, 22, and Sami Ahmed Mohamed Zekri, 28, of Libya pleaded guilty to being in Malta without leave from the immigration authorities.

They will be deported.

Police Inspector Neville Xuereb prosecuted.

Dr Leo Bencini appeared for the defendants.
