The Hilton Malta Hotel in St Julian’s would be undergoing a €15 million refurbishment programme next winter, Tumas Group announced yesterday.

The project involves the upgrading of 293 rooms, new food and beverage outlets, extended lounge facilities, replacement of elevators and measures to improve energy efficiency.

Due to the works, the hotel will be closed for 10 weeks from February 6 to April 15, 2016.

Matthew Mullan, Hilton Malta general manager, said the investment would ensure that hotel facilities would remain of world class quality.

“Hilton Malta has positioned itself as the premium hotel in Malta and this significant upgrade to the facilities will ensure we are best placed to continue providing world class quality and service to our guests,” he said during a news conference at the Quarterdeck lounge.

Tourism Minister Edward Zammit Lewis hailed the Tumas Group for the investment saying it was in line with the government’s efforts to raise standards and attract tourists from high-end markets.

Inaugurated 15 years ago, the Hilton Malta has 450 full-time employees.
