During a presentation ceremony held recently in St Julian’s, 174 students received Journeyman’s Certificates after successfully completing Employment and Training Corporation apprenticeships as part of their studies at Mcast during the 2011-2012 academic year.
Mcast full-time vocational courses are based on a mix of lectures and practical sessions in the college’s workshop and in real work environments.
Some of these courses also include an apprenticeship scheme, through which the ETC helps students receive on-the-job training with local employers as part of their studies.
During the ceremony, the ETC said that 75 per cent of students who completed apprenticeship programmes at Mcast and the Institute of Tourism Studies found a job as soon as they completed their studies, while most of the others continued their studies at higher levels.
