180 drug busts in 2025, cocaine and cannabis top the list
Police seized 314.46kg of cannabis grass, 4.33kg of resin and 249 plants
There were 180 drug busts in 2025, with cocaine and cannabis topping the list of the largest amount.
Over 668kg of cocaine were confiscated by the police last year, while 286.6g crack was also seized by officials.
Meanwhile, the police also seized 314.46kg of cannabis grass, 4.33kg of resin and 249 plants.
Nearly a kilo - 989.8g - of heroin were also seized.
The data emerged in parliament as part of a reply to a question by MP Davina Sammut Hili, who asked Home Affairs Miniser Byron Camilleri for information about police drug seizures throughout the year.
Camilleri said there were 180 busts of "significant amounts" of drugs by the police. In some cases, the police investigated drug cases with the customs department.
"Such seizures are not coincidental, but are the result of intelligence-led policing practicies that include the use of tecnology...
"[Police investigations] do not end with the main act of crime, but offiers follow the trail to whever benefitted from such acts so that they can break criminal circles. The police focus not just on trafficking and possession, but also assets," the minister said.
The police also seized 19.4kg KHAT, 1,825 XTC tablets, 4.07kg MDMA powder and 414 MDMA pills, a kilo of Amphetamine, 198g synthetic drugs, 22g psychedelic mushrooms, 300ml GBL and 111g ketamine.
