In March 2003, while attending the Paris International Council Meeting (ICM), the Maltese European Law Students Association (ELSA) team's application to host an ICM was approved by a large majority and it was thereby decided that the autumn 2005 ICM would be held in Malta.

This means that between October 30 and November 6, some 250 students from 29 countries, together with members of the ELS (ELSA Lawyer Society) will be assembling in Malta for a weeklong event, the Maltese ICM organised under the patronage of President Fenech Adami.

The ICM is a bi-annual meeting wherein all the international ELSA boards from various countries come together to discuss the affairs of the ELSA network. Not only is this an opportunity to team up law students from across the globe as they strive to improve the workings of the ELSA team, which ultimately benefit the law students from the respective countries as they participate in the events organised by their local or national boards, but it is also an opportunity for an enriching intercultu'ral experience.

The programme for the upcoming ICM is replete includes workshops conducted by professional trainers, seminars, discussions and similar events.

ELSA is an international, independent, non-political, and nonprofit making organisation made up of and run by law students and young lawyers. With 25,000 members in over 250 universities in 37 countries, including Malta, ELSA is the largest independent law student association in the world.
