A total of 291 notifications of amicable marriage separation were filed at the Family Court last year, a drop from 313 in the previous year, figures given in Parliament show. The figures for last year include 15 such notifications for Gozo, twice that of 2008. There were 98 notifications for Malta and Gozo in 2007

Home Affairs Minister Carm Mifsud Bonnici said 149 cases for separation were also filed at the law courts while the number of pending court cases stood at 598.
